In order to maintain an active license, licensees must complete at least 24 hours of continuing education courses during each biennium prior to the renewal date, 6 hours of which must be a Minimum Technical Standards (MTS) course or a course on laws affecting the practice of surveying and mapping or a course combining the two subjects.
IMPORTANT: Remember all courses must be offered by a Florida Board of Professional Surveyors and Mappers provider AND the courses must be approved by the Florida Board of Professional Surveyors and Mappers prior to attendance in order to receive full credit.
In order for you to renew your license, you must complete all applicable continuing education requirements and payment of the applicable fees. If your license is delinquent, whether due to insufficient continuing education hours or untimely payment, you will be required to pay a late renewal fee.
Chapter 472, Florida Statutes requires the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to monitor all continuing education activities of licensees. Therefore, providers are required to submit student rosters electronically to the department. This initiative ensures 100% compliance through monitoring.
Pursuant to Rule 5J-17.044(6), Florida Administrative Code continuing education providers must electronically submit licensee course completion information to the Department no later than 30 calendar days thereafter.
If you have completed all of your required hours and the Department's system does not reflect this, please remember the provider has 30 days to submit the course or courses that were completed. During the last month of renewal cycle, this period is shortened to 10 business days.
